SBBCC breaks ground at EVMS
A prominent 11-story, $80 million facility is scheduled to open in mid-2020 as part of Eastern Virginia Medical School. President and Provost of EVMS, Dr. Richard Homan announced that the campus is expanding its offerings to meet workforce demands. The student population at EVMS has increased 60% since 2010, and more space is needed to accommodate its growing student population.
The facility will house advanced team-based learning classrooms and study spaces to support the School of Medicine and School of Health Professions programs and staff, as well as consolidating numerous academic support departments currently dispersed in multiple buildings both on and off the EVMS campus.
Input was sought by faculty, students and staff members to finalize the details of this project, including individual study areas, group study space and a wellness center that will help provide a balance to their personal and professional lives.
