Building J-50 was built over 60 years ago. This was the first renovation of the entire building and provided a more reliable and energy efficient system. The renovation featured closed loop water source heat pumps, energy efficient lighting, new energy efficient HVAC systems and improved insulation.
The project required the replacement of more than 400 steam traps throughout the base. This included replacing and insulating any existing steam traps that are leaking or lack insulation. This effort will reduce steam and heat loss, saving energy throughout the base.
