This two-story, interactive sports museum for educational purposes honors Virginia Sports men and women and teaches children the need for athletic activity along with good nutrition and exercise habits. The building includes a theatre, multiple interactive exhibits, sports member classroom and education facilities, basketball court, and a $1.5M audio and visual system tied in with a $250K lighting system. The Museum’s nine exhibit areas showcase 20 different sports. Interpretive displays and interactive exhibits cover college athletics, Virginia Olympians, current Virginia sports events, Virginia’s greatest sports moments, sports medicine and health, sports media, and more. This project had extremely tight site constraints with limited laydown area.
