The combined Command Center for the United States Joint Forces and Fleet Forces Commands at the Naval Support Activity in Norfolk, Virginia was completed in August 2009 and was fully staffed and operated by October. NH-95 is a 250,000 SF, two-story windowless concrete structure that has grown incrementally over the last 50 years. This project expanded and modernized the installation into a world-class, state-of-the art facility for the two commands.
The project consisted of a two-story 42,000 SF building addition and the renovation of 250,580 SF of two floors of the High Security Joint Deployment Center/Fleet Forces Command Center in the southern end of Building NH-95.
The existing facility was operational during renovation and addition to the building. NH-95 included cast-in-place concrete, 42-foot tall cast-in-place concrete radius wall, steel framed interior structure on auger cast piles, metal deck, concrete floors and roof, curtain wall at the entrance vestibule. The building contains over 6 miles of data and fiber optic cabling, in addition to 115,572 LF of raceway and 27,600 SF of raised access flooring, landscaping, parking, and bollards. This building is used as an operations and controls center with connectivity capabilities for global control providing information and access to deployed troops. It serves as a network operations center for sublet/sub forces US Fleet.
The facility includes administrative space, secure and non-secure conference rooms, Officer/Senior Executive Office suites, video teleconference centers, data processing centers, administrative support space, storage, Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF), Secret Internet Protocol Router Network (SPIRNet) and building support spaces.
This building is used as an operations and controls center with connectivity capabilities for global control. It provides information and access to deploy troops. It serves as a network operations center for sublet/sub forces U.S. Fleet. Operations in the building coordinates all requirements to deploy troops for critical mission with a 24 hour/day, 7 day/week/365 days a year uninterrupted support as well as connectivity to combat troops.
