Virginia Army National Guard’s 91st Cyber Brigade Readiness Center

The new Virginia Army National Guard’s 91st Cyber Brigade Readiness Center is a two-level, 41,162 SF intelligence building capable of full-spectrum cyberspace operations at Fort Belvoir Army Base located in Fort Belvoir, VA. The building serves as an administration and operations building with the required secured spaces and network access allowing the soldiers of the 91st to integrate into the modern operational environment and rapidly respond to support mission partners.

This facility includes areas which were constructed in accordance with SCIF requirements of ICD/ICS 705 and all areas are considered secure. This climate-controlled intelligence building with a secure perimeter includes complex information systems and technological appurtenances that also include interior space for offices, storage, electrical equipment, and circulation with an exterior backup/emergency generator and the following associated sitework: storm water management, earthwork and landscaping, pavement, curb and gutter, sidewalks, access drives, and force protection design/materials.

The building is constructed with a steel frame with steel columns and beams, and open-web steel joists on a concrete slab and concrete foundations. The exterior building facades are designed and built to comply with the Fort Belvoir Installation Planning Standards and to complement the nearby Office of the Chief Army Reserve (OCAR) Building directly to the east of the project site.

This new facility has a minimum 50-year design life in accordance with Department of Defense (DoD) Unified Facilities Code (UFC 1-200-02), with energy efficiencies, building envelope, and integrated building systems designed per ASA (IE&E) Sustainable Design and Development Policy Update DEC 2013. The building design achieved LEED Silver Certification, with on-site anti-terrorism/force protection measures in accordance with the DoD building standards.

The new Cyber Brigade building is positioned on the site to accommodate placement of a future 131,701 SF, multi-story administration building for the 29th Infantry Division Headquarters.
