VA Beach Seawall

This was a unique, four phased project consisting of 55 blocks of a new seawall and 40 blocks of a new boardwalk and bikepath on the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. S.B. Ballard served as General Contractor on all phases of this project. The Seawall and Boardwalk are constructed of metal sheet pile, concrete and reinforcing steel, with approximately 60% of the work completed by S.B. Ballard’s own forces. The project also included a storm drain system.

The most notable and impressive fact about this project was that the construction was performed at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront, in both a resort area filled with revenue generating hotels and businesses, and an exclusive residential area where homes along the Oceanfront are valued in the millions of dollars. The key to this project was not only to satisfy the Owner with the highest quality end product, but also maintain a safe work site, where millions of tourists come to visit.
