The ORPHANNetwork is changing the future of Orphans through Orphanage Partnerships and Local Church Partnerships in Nicaragua. They serve around 300 RESCUED children through five orphanages, or homes, across Nicaragua that include: Casa Bernabe, Hogar Puente De Amistad, Puerto Cabezas, Arms of Love, Hogar de Fe, and Bluefields.
In Nicaragua, it only costs $22 per month, to feed a child a nourishing, nutritious meal every day. The ORPHANNetwork through crucial investments like the Ballard’s, work to provide one nourishing meal a day, health assessments, hygiene training, and often much more to an entire community. At many of their Local Church Initiative locations, children also receive things like a daily ‘Sunday School’ class, assistance with clothing and shoes, dental care, school supplies, afternoon tutoring, and other developmental needs.
ORPHANetwork currently supports almost 80% of Hogar de Fe expenses. Under the direction of Isaac Blandon, the Hogar de Fe orphanage is staffed by 25 and hosts 50 children from ages 5-18 years old.
Located in Ciudad Sandino, Hogar de Fe is a beautiful oasis in the midst of the city’s concrete sprawl. The orphanage begins with a mural along the outer wall, ushering children into the main area of living. Across from the main set of buildings is a sprawling park. Besides a soccer field and playground equipment where the children have recess in the middle of school, the children’s church also sits just adjacent to the field, and a “state of the art” Computer Center for the children is next to the church.
BJ and her husband, Stephen B. Ballard, are passionate contributors to the ORPHANNetwork, and major supporters of the funding of the Computer Learning Center at Hogar de Fe. The Learning Center benefits a total of 542 students from the school, Joshua 1:8 and Hogar de Fe.
