On February 6th, Campostella Elementary School students joined Stephen Ballard, Norfolk Mayor Fraim, Norfolk City Council Members and Norfolk School Board Members as they broke ground on the construction of the new Campostella School.
When the new building opens in September 2016, Campostella School will serve grades kindergarten through 8 with a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) focus, as well as a swim component in partnership with the city’s Southside Aquatic Center.
The building will have state-of-the-art science labs, a lecture hall, and integrated STEM across the curriculum. The school will host competitive academic teams, such as STEM, engineering, science Olympiad and robotics. Students from across the division will be invited to apply for more than 200 choice seats that will be made available.
